All About the Bow

What is a bow? A bow is a wooden stick fitted with horsehair. It is used to play certain bowed string instruments, such as the violin, viola, cello, double bass, octobass and viola da gamba. How does it work? The hair rubbing against the strings creates vibrations and sound, which are amplified by the body of the instrument.
