Frequently asked questions

The Paris Music Institute welcomes you, even if you're an absolute beginner. Our courses are open to all adults who wish to learn to play a musical instrument, whatever their previous experience; learning to read sheet music will be an integral part of your learning process.

The concerns behind your questions are entirely understandable.

It's not easy for adults to become students when they're afraid of being too old, of not meeting expectations, of making mistakes and of being judged...

Rest assured, none of this is true. There's no age limit to learning to play a musical instrument; our brains are capable of learning new things throughout our lives.

As an adult, you've already acquired three essential skills: discipline, concentration and motivation.

You'll be amazed at how fast you'll progress!

Our teachers are also excellent at adapting to your learning style, and will help you succeed regardless of your current perceived talent.

They will take into account your needs, wishes and personality, and will be more of a coach than a teacher.

You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll progress and how much fun you'll have learning.

In the end, just forget about the idea of talent. Just give it a try, and you'll be surprised at how good you are!

Having an instrument to practice with will be essential.

But don't worry, we can help you find a suitable instrument.

We offer instruments for monthly rental, and if we don't have the specific instrument in stock, we'll be happy to help you find a suitable store to buy one.

You can simply take part in the very first lesson without having an instrument.

However, from the second lesson onwards, we recommend that you have an instrument for individual practice.

We can always guide and support you in this regard.

Certainly, as learning a musical instrument for enjoyment is the primary mission of the Paris Music Institute.

You need to practise between lessons. Our music teachers will provide you with essential guidance for learning, but regular practise and hours of individual practice are crucial to your progress.

It all depends on your level. As a beginner, you can start with short daily practice sessions of 15 minutes and quickly increase to 30 minutes, as you'll need time to repeat, practice, and improve what you've learned in class.

If you wish, we can offer this option. In this case, your teacher will help you select and prepare for the various exams.

This is a difficult question to answer, as your progress will depend on your skills, motivation, goals, and available time. However, our experience shows that you should be able to play a few simple but enjoyable pieces in just a few lessons.

After a minimum of three months, courses continue without interruption until you choose to stop: either you reach the desired level, or you lose interest.

Of course, you'll need to indicate your current level when you register, so that we can match you with the teacher who best suits your needs.

We don't have a fixed program, as our goal is to tailor the musical training to each individual as much as possible, considering their background, abilities, desires, preferences, and availability...

Our aim is to accommodate everyone, and we understand that some professions may not allow for a fixed schedule. We will always find a solution to accommodate your needs. Please inform us when you register, keeping in mind that there may be additional costs for any specific requests.
