Saxophone enthusiasts who haven’t had any musical training or previous experience often doubt their ability to play. They combine this fear with all sorts of unfounded beliefs and questions, such as ‘Am I too old to start?’, ‘I don’t think I have any musical talent’ or ‘What if I’m really bad and make a fool of myself?’.
The first thing we would like to tell you is: Do not worry!
You don’t need to worry, for the following reasons::
1. Whatever your age, there’s no age limit to learning to play the saxophone for pleasure. You’re not planning to change direction, leave your job and become a saxophonist, are you?
2. Once again, exceptional talent isn’t necessary to enjoy playing the saxophone. It is certainly useful for those wishing to pursue a career, but it isn’t necessary simply to play for pleasure.
3. It’s understandable to be afraid that you will not be any good. That’s normal for any adult, but it is impossible to look ridiculous at the Paris Music Institute.
We have a genuine passion for helping adults get started, and we can assure you that we will never judge you. We will never think negatively of you. On the contrary, we will always support you and guide you in a way that ensures you’re at ease.

As the session lasts 30 minutes, you will have plenty of time to discover the instrument, meet your delightful teacher and realise that you are perfectly capable of doing what your teacher asks of you.
During this first lesson, your teacher will ensure you’re at ease and show you the essential basics.
After this first meeting, you will have a better idea of what is involved, and your fears should disappear.
There is no mystery to playing the saxophone. It’s a skill like any other that must be studied and improved over time, so the only way to succeed is to take the first step and get started.
